Temple on the Hill

Temple on the Hill is an evolving world building exploration in multiple iterations. The first sketch explores an image of a structure on a rolling dunescape hill, 3D modeled in the software Blender, it utilizes glitch art techniques of bending digital tools for unintended consequences, depicting a noisy golden form that laps across the structure. Filmed handheld from a monitor, the work gives an exploratory POV feeling, with vibes from influenced by the liminal dreamlike magic of games like MYST and RIVEN by Cyan, which heavily affected my aesthetic and resonate with nostalgia from my childhood.

Temple on the Hill - Sketch Two - Visions

Sketch two, ‘Visions’, was created for Light’s Out Gallery’s fundraising event held in Belfast Maine, 2024. It elaborates the world of the Temple on the Hill by exploring a golden gallery living inside the structure, built in the 3D modeling software Blender and depicting various works, some of which incorporate generative AI techniques. I’ve long been fascinated with the artform of presentation, having worked in galleries and museums while attending graduate school, and raised by a preacher father in his church, my work often explores nested layers of presentation, fictional spaces that present work within fictional spaces of presented work, recursory and fractal layers of elevation through exhibition.
