Reverberations of Touch

Video - Stop Motion Animation - Single Channel - Looping

This work exist in my mind as an extension of The Feeler series, in which hands explore a kinesthetic tactile space in a mirror neuron empathetic sensation realm. The hand becoming an extension of the viewer’s experience of form and the present moment of subjective experience.

In this work, i explored the usage of claymation stop motion animation to create analog real world noise fields with the hand stretching across time through these discrete photographs to tactilely explore the space. Between each photo I would touch and stroke the clay surface, creating waves of change and energy across that field. I then digitally morphed those frames to create an uncanny feeling of living material to the clay as it morphs between frames. The central feeling of this work is in tactility and felt sensation, a subjective exploration of a rolling surface of energy and it’s reverberation echoing from that touch.
